This is where QBs start playing fast; A simple rule great QBs actually follow

Now we layer in full field thinking.

👉 Lesson 6: Full Field Progressions & How to Teach It

Most QBs are taught:

Read 1 → Read 2 → Read 3

That part is right.

But where it breaks down is how it’s actually applied.

Here’s the simple rule you’ll hear from guys like Hal Mumme and Mike Leach:

👉 “Throw to the first open receiver in the progression. Period.”

It sounds obvious.

But most QBs don’t actually play that way.

They:

  • hesitate
  • double clutch
  • second guess what they’re seeing

The goal isn’t to “get through the progression.”

👉 It’s to recognize the answer as soon as it shows up.

That’s where reps matter.

QBs need to see:

  • how concepts develop
  • how defenses react
  • where space actually shows up

Over and over again.

That’s exactly why we built this system.

👉 To speed up that process.

When this clicks, everything changes.

That’s how QBs actually start playing fast.
